Angoul (also transliterated as Angool or Angoal) is three kilometers away from Dinak Village, Kouhin Section, Qazvin Province, and is at an altitude of 1972 m above sea level. Since it has a steep slope and is on different levels, visitors are prohibited. Angoul entrance is in one-meter length and half a meter width. It is surrounded by many Dwarf Pine Trees and dark butterflies and other small insects are the only creatures living inside the cave.

History and culture of Angoul Ice Cave

Geologically the dolomitic rocks (dolostone) of the west side of Kūh-e Dārangūl (Angoul Mountain) moving along fault lines during earthquakes opened the space that created the cave. It dates back to The Triassic (the first and shortest period of the Mesozoic Era) which is almost 251.902 (+/- 0.024) million years ago.

One of its spectacular features is the freezing weather inside which is caused by the always existing ice and icicles on the walls that is the reason it is named ice cave.
